This installation responds to the changes in pace, modes of movement, and personal endeavors that take place here. At its core this place is a neutral hub of activity. By finding ways of reflecting the core elements that define this place, we have looked to amplify and connect them in order to bring into focus a poetry of motion that takes place here every day.
As plans for this installation evolved, our focus continually returned to the essential characteristics of this place – cars, noise, signals, and above all movement and pattern. Our goal became one of reorganizing the apparent chaos of the processes going on around the site into a choreographed perceptual experience. We did this not by changing the nature of the processes, but by helping to change the perceptions of them.
